Sacred Architecture, Sacred Liturgy and the Popular Mythology about the Vatican Council's Decrees

An interesting critique of the proposed renovation of St. Colman's Cathedral in Cobh, Ireland is available off of the Friends of St. Colman's Cathedral website.

It is formally titled "Objection to the Re-Ordering of Saint Colman's Cathedral" and was written by Fr. Gabriel Burke in response to a number of claims about Conciliar teaching on liturgy and architecture, active participation, versus populum, etc.

The piece makes reference to many of the writings of Cardinal Ratzinger, it references the likes of Msgr. Klaus Gamber, Cardinal Arinze, etc. and makes for a nice little summary correction of the mythology which reigns out there about what was required of our Church sanctuary and what our liturgical principles in fact are.

The document is worth seeing for its own sake.
