My mind has turned today to rood screens, something I have written on in the past here on the NLM. However, for today I am focusing in upon them not from a liturgical level, but simply an artistic level, and specifically, the painting of them with images of the saints. One can only lament how much was lost from the mediaeval, pre-reformation English Church.
