Card. George Ordained Two New Priests for the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius

Cardinal Francis E. George, the Archbishop of Chicago, ordained two new priests for the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius at their Chicago church of the same name last Thursday, 29 May. The Pontifical Mass, which was also attended by two of Chicago's Auxiliary Bishops, Joseph N. Perry (known to NLM readers as a frequent celebrant of Pontifical Masses in the Extraordinary Form) and Thomas A. Paprocki, was celebrated in the Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite, in Latin and ad orientem. Mozart's Missa Brevis in D Major was sung, as well as, among other pieces, Elgar's Ecce Sacerdos.

Both new priests celebrated their First Masses as Solemn Masses according to the usus antiquior.

Here are some pictures of this significant occasion in the context of the reform of the reform.
