Vespers in the Extraordinary Form at Moscow Cathedral

A reader from Moscow has sent in some pictures of Vespers in the usus antiquior they celebrated in Moscow's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception last week. This was the first time Vespers in the traditional form were the celebrated there since the Cathedral had been closed by the Communists in 1937 (the year Pius XI published his condemnation of atheistic Communism, Divini Redemptoris). The chant was provided by the Schola Gregoriana Moscoviensis which was founded two years ago and sings in Mass both in the EF and OF. This summer, they attended the study week of the Ancient Roman liturgy and Gregorian chant “Ad Fontes” in Kraziai, Lithuania.
